Sunday morning rolls around and despite the weather forecast it was dry. I head out to the track after the ritual stop at Macca's for breakfast!
We set up with Paul Taylor slap bang in the middle of the pits and get signed in and the bikes scruteneered.
F1/Superbike was first up for qualifying and I went out and had pretty much a clear session and put down a 1:37.834, which not far off my PB on the GSXR. This put me 5th on the grid!
F3/Superlite was not so good as I made the mistake off going out mid pack! I managed to get a half decent lap that was a couple of seconds of my PB on the SV putting me 3rd on the grid behind Russell Josiah and Leigh Tidman.
F1/Superbike Race 1: I got a good start slotting into 5th at turn 1 behind Mark Bennett. I managed to pass him going into the A1 left hander and thats how it stayed till the checkered flag with Sam, Travis Moan and BJ all checking out.
F3/Superlite Race 1: I had a reasonable start but lost a few places going into turn one. I managed to get past Regan Griffiths about 2 laps later but buy then Leigh, Russell and Paul Buckley where long gone. I pushed hard and if there had of been another lap I may well of got past Paul. It didn't matter in the end as he and Leigh picked up a penalty for a jumped start I think. This pushed me up to 1st in F3 as Russell is competing in Pro Twin. I also set a new PB on the SV650 on Track 1 of 1:40.922!
F1/Superbike Race 2: Awesome start saw me 4th at turn 1 and then 3rd at the end of the back straight. It wasn't long and I could hear BJ right on my tail. I made a mistake tipping in too early for the A1 corner resulting in me not getting on the gas early enough and BJ sails up the inside on the entry to turn 11. I seemed to get better drive on the exit and pass him back up the inside coming off the back straight into turn 12! I'm starting to really enjoy this and try to string a half decent lap together but he passes me up the inside again entering turn 11 and blocked the inside line at the end of the straight. After that he slowly pulled away and I crossed the line 4th! This put us into 2nd overall in the F1 Championship!
F3/Superlite Race 2: This was the same as the first start with me rounding turn 1 in 5th, I get past Regan at turn 8. Paul Buckley has a moment at turn 11 and I go up the inside to take 3rd on the track. Paul has other ideas about this and passes me on the entry to turn 4 but I manage to get him back under brakes at turn 12. And thats where I stayed till the chequered flag 3rd on track and 2nd in F3 behind Leigh Tidman. This put me in 1st place in the Championship! Our first ever championship win!
